Research and Information

Research is a very crucial component of planning system because it helps in the identification of areas of need and the proposed ways of achieving the desired results. It is in this realization that SRIC salutes itself to provide reliable empirical data through research to influence policy and action in the human security dynamics of the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa Sub-Region. Research is core pre-occupation of SRIC and this program therefore informs all the other programmes in the organization. The goal of this program is to generate empirical data on the general areas of human security. It is envisioned that the generated data will be used by institutions, communities, governments and civil society, diplomats, international and regional organizations to influence policy formulation towards better human security.

Activities under this programme area will include conducting focused applied research topics in the areas of SALW, peace building and conflict transformation, security sector reforms, crime and related security issues and any other areas that our clients may request from us within our mandate and focus area.

SRIC is committed to maintaining a working and well updated internet website through which research and project outputs will be shared with a wider population.

Within this programme, SRIC offers opportunity for internship to graduate and postgraduate students from both national and international institutions to either participate in on-going research or use our resource center to pursue their research interests.
